Error Never Runs Out of Answers
September 23, 2026
You've probably met someone like this — maybe you've been this. Confront them gently with something plainly true, and they don't pause, don't consider it. They have an answer ready. They always have an answer. And somehow the conversation ends with you defending yourself instead of them examining anything.

"Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die."
— Proverbs 15:10
The Argument
Spirit of Error names this pattern precisely — not as a personality trait, but as a spiritual condition:
"The moment you try to correct a person under the influence of the spirit of error, the spirit shows itself. They do not receive the correction — they deflect it. They attack the messenger. They question your motive. They gather people around them who will agree with their position. This is not stubbornness of personality. It is a spiritual condition."
And it doesn't stop at resisting correction. It also keeps a person from tracing their own consequences back to their own choices:
"A person under error cannot see what their error is producing. They look at the fruit of a false doctrine and do not connect it to the root. They look at the devastation in their marriage, their children, their finances, their church, and they cannot trace it back to the lie they believed fifteen years ago."
That's the two-part trap. Error defends itself when confronted, and it blinds you to what it's already cost you — which is exactly why it can run for years without ever being named.
Why This Matters to You
This isn't a call to go diagnose everyone who disagrees with you. It's an invitation to notice your own reflex the next time someone corrects you. Curiosity and defensiveness are different responses to the same moment — and only one of them can actually see straight.
A Question to Sit With
The last time someone corrected you and your first instinct was to defend yourself rather than examine what they said — what were they trying to show you?
